CORAL SPRINGS - A Coral Springs police dog trained to sniff out narcotics has died after it was shut inside a broiling, unmarked police car, authorities said today.
Hieke, an 8-year-old wire-haired terrier and Labrador mix, was left inside the car for about two hours while it wasn't running Wednesday, said police spokesman Sgt. Joe McHugh.
The handler, an undercover narcotics officer, found the animal dead about 2:45 p.m. Wednesday
